Super Emily!
My friend has a 4 year old daughter who loves Superheros and I was asked to make cupcake toppers and cake toppers for her parties.

Super Emily!

Nathan's 7th Birthday
It seems like all the kids are into Minecraft and naturally this is what Nathan picked for his theme this year.  Instead of making a regular cake I decided to build a world out of blocks just as you would do in the game, although these ones were edible.

Disney Frozen Cake
I was very excited when I was asked to make a Disney Frozen themed cake for a friend from the boys school.  I absolutely loved the movie and had so many ideas of what I wanted to see in the finished product.  It was my first time attempting to make Candy Glass, and after several tries I was happy with the outcome.  The cake itself turned out exactly as I had envisioned it.

Back at it!

November 2013

After finishing Carter's birthday cake in the summer, I packed up my cake supplies and took a little hiatus.  It was nice to get everything out again after such a long break.  I had a few cupcake orders, and 2 cakes to do between the end of October and early November.

A Skylanders Swapforce cake for a friend from school.
I am really happy with how the character on top turned out.  It took a lot of trial and error because there were so many intricate details and protruding parts, but in the end he looked very much like the actual game piece, and the look on the kids faces made the countless hours spent, all worth while.

Hello Kitty for my nieces 2nd Birthday was also a big hit.  This is the first cake I have done with a ruffle technique.  Although very time consuming, the end result is worthwhile.

Carter's 8th Birthday

I had a ton of fun making little fondant minions for both Carter's friend party cupcakes, as well as his family party cake.  We celebrated with his friends by taking them to see the new movie - Despicable Me2, and had a family party with a showing of the original Despicable Me movie.

It has been such a busy summer and I have been meaning to post, but just never seemed to get around to it.  Now that the kiddos are back in school I have no more valid excuses.

I had a couple of orders in May.  One was for a Cinderella Themed cake for a 6 year old's Birthday party......
Cinderella's Dress was a Cupcake covered in Fondant, all the other decorations were made of Fondant as well.

The other was a Baby Shower cake with the Theme 'Cute as a Button'

Then began my work on reproducing a non-traditional cake for my brother's upcoming wedding. They provided me a picture of the exact cake they wanted, and as long as I could make the giant rose I knew it would be a success.  I got approval on the fondant colours and then over the next month I made a few versions of the rose for them to pick from.  The cake turned out beautifully.

Monday 15 April 2013

The last month has been extremely busy, hosting 4 parties in a five week span.  Here are some of the latest edible creations.
We celebrated Chris' 40th with a Poker Party that lasted late into the night
The Poker cards were made with edible decorating paper and Food Colouring

Nathan celebrated his 6th Birthday in March.  He naturally picked Hockey as his theme.
His celebrations began with a Friend party for which we had cupcakes, and then a family party with a Hockey Rink cake.

We had cupcakes to celebrate Carters First Communion
And finally, I received an order for Mermaid cake toppers from a friend of a friend in Brantford.  She had seen a cake I had previously made and wanted one that looked the same.  She agreed to make her own cake and just add the edible decorations.

February 2013

I received an order for Valentine cupcake toppers, through a friend of a friend from the boys school.  My first order that was a result of word of mouth and from someone I didn't know.

I also had the opportunity to make a cake for my Mother-in-laws friend who was celebrating a Surprise 65th Birthday.  She works in a bridal shop and is supposedly always complaining about how heavy the dresses are and what the shop looks like at the end of a day.   My mother-in-law came up with a great idea for a whimsical cake.  I had lots of fun making all the different wedding dresses and was very happy with how it all turned out.
I also made cupcake toppers which were to look like a wedding gown, with a fondant bodice and buttercream skirt.
