Monster High

Since I have two boys who are into sports, cars and playfighting, I am rarely exposed to dolls, princesses or for that matter, anything pink.  I have learned to love and embrace all those boyisms, but I find it fun when I get to delve into the world of little girls.  I secretly get excited when I know my hands will turn pink instead of blue from making my Marshmallow Fondant.

I was recently asked to make a Monster High Themed Cake for one of Carter's friends at school.
Time to educate myself on all things 'Monster High', I'll be honest and say I had never heard of it before.

I quickly found out they are a line of fashion dolls that are related to or are offspring of famous monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein, Medusa and Zombies.

While researching I saw a lot of pink, white and black; lots of plaid; the logos; and because of the monster theme I thought of bats and fangs.
Off to the drawing board...I was excited to come up with a plan for a sweet little 7 year old girl.

THE PLAN

The fondant toppers usually need a few weeks to dry so that they will retain their shape and be stiff enough to pick up.

 THE CAKE
This particular cake was a 3 layer Double Chocolate cake with Pink Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and a Chocolate Pudding Center.   Everything was edible except for the 2 wires holding up the fangs and the bat, as well as the straws the wires were sitting in.
